Dimensions of all the tops
(lengths and depths)
The best place to get length measurements is on the wall that the countertop is going against, or measure the front of your cabinets.
Edge style and Caps/Finished ends
Mark anywhere that the countertop has a rolled edge (see drawing)
Also mark anywhere the tops need Caps/finished ends. (also see drawing for examples)
Rolled Edges are usually anywhere the countertop hangs over the front of the cabinets, and caps/finished ends are where the top is exposed on the ends (stove openings, refrigerator openings, and anywhere the end of the countertop is exposed.)

Do you want integrated backsplashes
An integrated backsplash is a great way to tie your new countertops into the walls of your kitchen. (Its also a great way to keep water off your walls)
Side Splashes
If you’ve opted for a countertop with backsplashes anywhere that the top goes against a side wall or cabinet panel will require a side splash. (once again reference drawing below.)
Other things that are helpful to know
Where the sink is located
Refrigerator and stove locations
If you have a bar top how much does it overhang the cabinets
